My name is Leakhena Davison.
I want to help Prevent children living with the pain of Racism.
I am a year 11 student at Lilydale High School and will be sharing my journey on how I have navigated racism and negative feelings as a young Asian Australian at TEDxYouth@Casey.
Why does your idea matter to you?
Racism Hurts People
Being treated differently, teased or abused for something that you can't change like your appearance is hurtful. For children it can devistate their sense of self.
How would you describe yourself?
A Connector
I try to put people at ease and make an effort to connect people up. I try to get to know and understand people.
How does who you are contribute to what you want to share?
I suffered due to racism
I managed to navigate racism and negative feelings of shame and anger that caused me to harm my self and hurt those closest to me.
